July 20th 2007 was a
missing day for me, inexistent. I had left home on July 19th, barely
aware of the magnitude of the year that was to come, and took three different
planes to get from my old home in the Caribbean to my New Home in New Zealand. It
was still July 19th on my layovers in Miami and LAX. But the 13 hour
flight across the Pacific and time zone differences saw me landing in Auckland
on July 21st. Like a proverbial skipping of a heart beat upon seeing
a loved one, it was my whole life that skipped a day upon arriving in NZ. And
it took less than that nonexistent day for me to fall in love with my newly
imposed life.
10 years ago today, I
started this magnificent adventure which changed my life and so many more ways
than I could have imagined. And I cannot think of a better way to reminisce of
the amazing year I spent in NZ than by updating this long forgotten blog.
I have dug up my old
diary and organised the pictures I took. For the next year (probably) I’ll be writing my
own version of Facebook’s ‘on this day’ memories, with some embarrassing journal
entries and poorly taken photographs, provided I actually learn how to update
and make this blog readable.
Follow along if you wish, hopefully you'll find it a little bit enjoyable.
