¡Hola otra vez!
Es increíble: otro mes ha pasado volando y a mí me parece que fue la semana pasada cuando terminé de escribir mi última carta!
He estado muy ocupada últimamente pues el verano se acerca... Veamos:
La vez pasada les contaba de mi acto del plátano en la escuela. Nadie lo ha olvidado así que aún me siguen diciendo mi apodo "Chica plátano" y muchos me preguntan si pueden probar de mi plátano.
Invité a la casa a algunas de mis amigas para que lo probaran y lo cocinaran conmigo. Éramos 6 chicas y todas estábamos muy emocionadas. Cociné "tostones" y estaba convencida de que me habían quedado buenísimos. ¡Me sentí tan orgullosa de mis tostones que llamé a mi mamá para contarle sólo para escuchar que no es así como se hacen! ¡De todas maneras me sigo sintiendo feliz de mi nueva y distinta manera de hacer tostones!
Ahora el año escolar ha terminado para mí, así que estoy oficialmente de vacaciones de verano. Las últimas semanas de clases fueron bastante relajadas. Nos la pasamos haciendo revisiones de lo que habíamos dado durante el año y como no tengo que hacer los exámenes los profesores no se preocupaban mucho de lo que hacía y hasta me permitían salir del aula y entretenerme en lo que quisiera. Eso estuvo bastante bien porque pude hablar mucho con mis amigos o simplemente salir a caminar por los alrededores. Mis amigos sin embargo no han sido tan afortunados y ahora mismo tienen que estudiar montones y sentarse a contestar exámenes. Esa parte no fue muy divertida porque mientras yo estaba super relaxed, ellos estaban bien tensos, preocupados por salir bien de las pruebas y no precisamente en ánimo de ir a pasear.
A pesar de todo, los últimos días de escuela fueron muy divertidos. Un día, los 7mos formers (los graduandos del curso 13) organizaron un deslizamiento por una chorrera que armaron en una colina que tiene una fuerte pendiente como de 45 metros. ¡Compraron montones de plástico, consiguieron una manguera y jabón y comenzaron a resbalar! Se supone que sólo podían hacerlo los 7mos formers pero conseguí salir de clase y participar con ellos en el juego. Fue muuuuuuuuuuy divertido!
El final de clases lo celebramos con un grupo de amigos cerca de la escuela en un pequeño restaurante llamado "Momo's". Es famoso porque sirven unas bebidas diferentes y loquísimas . Ahí se puede pedir casi cualquier tipo de té que uno se imagine o las batidas con los ingredientes más increíbles.
Luego nos fuimos a la casa de uno de mis amigos y amanecimos todos allí. ¡También superdivertido! El día siguiente estuvo hermoso, precioso, así que nos fuimos a Mission Bay, una playa en el área de Auckland y pasamos un día agradable y soleado allí.
Ya esta semana ha estado haciendo calor y mucho sol lo que me permite ir con frecuencia a la playa. ¡En Auckland hay muchas playas agradables! ¡Y me quedan apenas a unos 15 minutos de mi casa! No son tan frías así que puedo ir a nadar cada vez que quiero. No son las mejores playas, es decir, no son como la playa de Piha o las que están más al norte, pero no están mal para ser playas que quedan en la misma ciudad.
También he hecho algo de kayak en el puerto con Chris y Karen. ¡Pedaleamos hasta debajo del Harbour Bridge y pude ver como desde el puente saltaba alguna gente! ¡Es asombroso! ¡Tengo muchas ganas de hacer eso!
Hoy fui con mis amigos de AFS a Rainbows End, el único parque temático que hay en Nueva Zelanda. Pasamos un rato realmente agradable, no porque sea un gran lugar –en realidad es algo pequeño y sin mucho que ver- pero porque nuestro grupo de AFS es un grupo fantástico. ¡Éramos cerca de 25 Aefeeses de todo el mundo! Me encanta cuando todos nos reunimos: hay siempre mucho que contar de nuestras experiencias y también nos reímos mucho juntos.
Me ha sorprendido ver que mientras en RD todo el mundo se prepara para conmemorar el Día internacional de la no violencia contra las mujeres, aquí en NZ también hay un gran activismo con ese tema. La ciudad está llena de propaganda promoviendo el "Día de la cinta blanca" que es como le llaman. No se imaginan lo bien que me siento al ver aquí, tan lejos, algo que me resulta tan familiar. No tengan dudas de que seré la primera persona en conseguir y lucir orgullosa mi cinta blanca.
Bueno, ya tengo que irme. Espero que hayan disfrutado esta carta. También espero sus comentarios.

4 months!
Hello again! Needless to say another month has flown by in what seems to have been no time at all. I feel like if just last week I was writing my last letter.
I have been very busy lately as summer approaches... Lets see.
So last time I talked about my plantain in school. Well no one has forgotten about that so my nickname is still banana girl and everyone has asked me if they could try my banana. I invited some of my friends to come over and cook it with me. We were about 6 girls, all really exited. I made "tostones" (fried plantain) and I thought that they were really good. I was so proud of my cooking that I called and told my mom what I had done, only to hear that I had done completely wrong! I was still very happy with my new and different way of cooking it!
The school year has now finished for me, so I am officially on summer holidays.My last weeks of school were pretty relaxed. We were just doing revisions and I don't have to do the exams so the teachers didn't really care about what I was doing and allowed me to go outside and do pretty much what I liked. This was pretty sweet because I could just hang out with friends or walk around. My friends however aren't so lucky and now have heaps of studying to do and exams to sit so while I was chilling they were stressing. This isn't so cool because they weren't in the mood for going out but were more worried about studying.
Nevertheless the last days of school were pretty cheerful. One day, the 7th formers (year 13 students, so the graduates) organized a water slide on the field. There is a massive hill between the fields, about 45 meters. So they bought heaps of plastic, got a hose and soap and started sliding! It was supposed to be 7th formers only but I got to go out of class and join them :D. This was really fun.
To celebrate the end of school I went out with some friends. We went to this little restaurant near the school called Momo's. Its famous because of it's crazy funky drinks. You can get the oddest teas and shakes, with just about anything you can imagine. Afterwards we went to one of their houses and stayed the night. It was really fun!
The next day was a beautiful, beautiful day, so we went to Mission Bay, a beach in the Auckland area and a had a really nice day out.
This last week has been really warm and sunny, so I've been going heaps to the beach. There are many nice beaches in Auckland, just 15 minutes from my house! It's really cool! I can go for a swim anytime. They aren't the best beaches, and if I ever really feel like a beach I wouldn't go there but rather to Piha or further north, but they are pretty amazing to be right in the city!
I've also been kayaking in the harbor. I went with Chris and Karen. We pedaled straight under the harbor bridge and I got to see some people jumping off it! It was amazing! I want to give a try!
Today I went with my AFS friends to Rainbows End, the only theme park in New Zealand. I had a really nice time, not because it was a great place, it was rather small ando not really exiting, but because we were a fantastic group. We were about 25 AFSers from all over the world! I love it when we all get together: there's always heaps to catch up on and to laugh of.
I was surprised to see that that while everyone in the DR is getting ready for the international day against violence towards women, here in NZ there's also a big fuzz about it. All over town there are sins promoting white ribbon day, as they call it. It felt really good to see something that familiar to me around here. I'm pretty sure I'll be the first one to get, and proudly show, my white ribbon.

Auckland's gone gay!
The sky tower, with it's 328 meters of height is the tallest building of the south hemisphere. With that title you'd expect it to be a masculine, powerful, outstanding building, but now it's PINK!
The sky tower changes its lights colors frequently according with the dates. October having been the breast cancer month, the sky supported the cause by changing its color to pink. Different, heh? I quite liked that look... Now its silver and from December it'll be red and green for christmas!
