21st of September:
Beginning of spring, which means finally winter is finally over: days are becoming longer and longer, warmer and warmer. Happiness is in the air.
Beginning of my third month in New Zealand.
Begenning of end of term holidays.
Everything seems to be perfect: I couldn't ask for anything more.
Since the days have been getting warmer and longer, I've been going out for walks more and more. One day, during one of my long walks (1 to 2 hours, I really enjoy walking around here), I discovered a little place by he harbour where you can get away from the motorway, sit by the water and with a beautiful view to the city. It is such a lovely place that I just go down there whenever the sun is shining and sit with my feet in the water, sometimes with friends, sometimes by myself. I really enjoy it.
Also because of the lovely weather, Filipe, an AFS student from Portugal and I went up to the skytower, sure that the view would be perfect. The skytower is the tallest building of the south hemisphere. It is in fact higher than the Eiffel Tower. From up there you can see absolutely everywhere in Auckland: I could see my house, my school, the parks, the harbour. It's just wonderful!
This Sunday I went down to Rotorua with Michelle (Karen's sister), her two sons and my grandparents, Nana and Pepy. Rotorua is a very touristy town about 3 hours south to Auckland. It is a very geothermaly active city so there are lots of mudbaths, hot pools and, the disctinve smell of rotten eggs given by the sulfur. Rotorua is also famous for it's rich Maori culture and it's xtreme activities. There where so many things to do that there didn't seem to be enough time. I will certanly go back again. I was also very happy to hear Nana refering to me as her grand daughter: it really ade me feel like part of the family.
Today, some of the AFS students and I decided to go to the zoo. When we got there, the day was so beautiful that we just decided to have a picnic at the park. We had an awsome time sitting, enjoying the sun and talking. I like getting together with them and talking about our experiences
It is time for me to have dinner now: Chris is preparing me a very special kiwi burger, I'll tell you how it was next time we talk!
Love you all heaps!
Camila
